The festive season may have officially having ended 23 days ago, but I still thought you all might be interested in this.

I've just been forwarded an email about the Merseyside Scrooge of the Year award for 2008.

The joint winners are... National Museums Liverpool and Wirral Council.

In total Merseyside TUC received nominations for 16 different employers, but apparently NML and Wirral Council were the run away winners.

Alec McFadden, president of Merseyside TUC, said "This 2008 Scrooge of the Year is a rogue's gallery; both Wirral Council and National Museums Liverpool are large organisations that have clearly lost their way.

"Their employees and ex-employees have voted to put both organisations on the Role of Shame.

"Two very special 'Scrooge of the Year' certificates are being produced and will be sent to the Chief Executive of Wirral Council and the director of National Museums Liverpool."

There is no such organisation as Merseyside TUC. Is someone trying to be a smart Alec?
