My view of the new Liverpool logo

I've just written a small opinion piece for tomorrow's paper on the new logo.
Here's what I've said:
Liverpool has successfully avoided the debacle of London's 2012 Olympic logo, that was unveiled to well-documented derision.
Choosing an evolution of the 08 logo while the logical thing to do, was also the safe option.
And in many ways it was always going to be difficult to recreate the same excitement that surrounded the 08 brand.
The real measure of the logo will be seen in the number of taxi drivers that use it, and the businesses put it on their letterheads.
I'll be wearing it to work every day on my lapel, will you join me?
Here's another view of the the new logo from Liverpool Culture Blog.

Looks bland to me. Too much detail and no life about it. However, the test will be seeing it in context. Hard to gauge the effect without seeing it "in action", as it were.
That's not an opinion piece. Its reportage. There is no discernible view in it. I want my time back. Youve just wasted it.
Of course, I'll be happy to join you on your way to work, which way do you go?
Waste of money if you ask me. £50k for that! Makes me sick
Can I come to work with the Prof and the Boy Wonder too? Sounds like a fantastic start to the day.
Liverpool may have avoided derision but only because people like you have failed in your duty to take the spendthrifty idiots who sanctioned this disgusting waste of money.
Call yourself a joutnalist - why have you not even attempted to question the waste of so much council tax payers money on a pointless "new" logo?
