Colin Eldridge in 'leadership training' for Wavertree contest

Further evidence of how seriously the Liberal Democrats are taking the battle for the Wavertree constituency has emerged today.
The party's candidate Colin Eldridge was today in London after being handpicked for "leadership training".
A party colleague told me the other day that the resources the Lib Dems were throwing at the contest were "phenomenal".
The race for the seat will be very tight, and if Labour hang on, it will not be because of a lack of resources or time invested by the Lib Dems in trying to win over the voters of Wavertree.

David,
You are being slightly naive. Understandably so, given the Lib Dems have spun it to attract further attention for their candidate.
The truth is every party organises these events for candidates - they usually involve lessons on what colour shirts to wear for men (yes really), why women should not wear too much jewellery, relations with the local media (that's you david - so expect another flurry of useless press releases from the Lib Dumbs), radio and TV interviews, public speaking (yes, really), how to build your campaign team, telephone canvassing, organising public meetings, leaflets (they need a lot of lessons about this), using Facebook, Twitter, etc etc. All the panoply of modern election campaigning, in other words.
What the Lib Dums won't be taught today, of course, is integrity, honesty, and how not to sink into the gutter.
One final thought - you could easily have written a post about Lib Dumb candidate being sent back to school. But that, of course, would never do.
Context is everything....
What an absolute nothing story this is. Come on David, try harder and write about something worthwhile. Or else when they come to give the chop to one of you or Wadders, it isn't going to be the latter...
So calling the Lib Dems "Lib Dums" isn't sinking into the gutter?
Interesting...
I thought I was the only one who thought that kevmacca.. The quality of this blog has deteriorated recently and it's been non-stories like this and the pursuit of the unnecessary Merseytram scheme.
There must be bigger/more interesting stories he can pursue - one example is the complaint that Knowsley Liberal Democrats have made to Chris Davies MEP over the Tesco land deal in Kirkby. You're an Evertonian David, what's your take on it?
The bigger stories are surely for the paper, not for the blog. This is stuff that wouldn't get space in the Post or Echo but is nontheless worthy of discussion. He is at least making an effort at blogging, unlike Waddington who did it for five minutes then gave up in favour of what I'm not too sure. Keep going Dave.
