BANNED by Liverpool Direct Limited (LDL)

If you are reading this blog you are clearly not working at Liverpool Direct Limited (LDL).

This blog has been banned by LDL - the controversial joint venture between Liverpool Council and BT.

I've written numerous stories about LDL:

- How outside investigators thought the joint venture was "opaque" and "lacked transparency"

- How the city council is yet to have a penny of profit from the deal

- How the city council has spent more than £223,000 with consultants investigating the LDL contract for more than a year.

But the straw that broke the camel's back was THIS blog post about the little "LDL is a great place to work" gonk that was handed out to workers this week.

LDL may have that thought that by giving the gonk to workers "Santa had arrived early", but clearly he didn't bring managers at the company a sense of humour.

Oh no, they don't like being laughed at. Humour is the Achilles heel of every tyranny. You should feel proud to have been banned. If a blog isn't banned by someone, it isn't doing its job. Your readership should increase now! Well done!

Rather stupid frankly - unless of course the objective was to draw attention to the blog!

David is now my new local hero, he has upset the mighty McEllhinney. If a business cannot take critisism such as this, they really are humourless.
Keep up the brilliant work David.
I recall them banning a certain subculture blog for telling stories of corruption, etc, that made the blog more popular than ever!
How many more journalists are going to be banned before someone in power takes notice?

Of course the LDL staff who have not been reading David's blog, will now go home and log in to see what the fuss is about.

How dare you imagine that you can say what you like about McElhinney and Liverpool Direct!
Don't you understand that he has a reputation to protect?
It is perfectly fair and reasonable of McElhinney to ban LDL employees from reading this scurrilous nonsense.
I just hope the ban is extended to all council one stop shops too, which the good Dr thankfully controls.
At least then the people of Liverpool will not be able to find out about LDL through using the LDL computers in the one-stop shops.
They will have to go instead to their own laptops and PCs (which for some obscure reason, are considerably cheaper than the LDL computers which the council taxpayers are footing the bill for).

Can I be banned too? I could do with the publicity

OOP's the truth hurts and now LDL staff are banned from looking at this site. I wish they would ban the publicity machine, spin and award chasing culture coming out of LDL towers.

When is the leadership at this Council going to realise the City is being ripped-off to the tune of millions of pounds.

Keep up the good work David and I want my stuff back. I've heard they are changing hands for hundreds on ebay.

oh what a badge of honour to wear!

i hope you realise david that if LDL ban you then you are defacto banned to all 15000 Council employees and not just LDL

YOu should be proud of being banned!

Victor,
Thanks for the comments. I believe the ban only extends to people actually working in LDL, regular council staff and councillors can still access the site.

if you have checked that fair enough David

but since LDL "control" IT for the whole council id be surpised if they hadnt done a blanket ban!

certainly "other" blogs which may have been banned in the past where banned LCC wide

The council...I worked for them for over 20years...this is what happend to me at Tribunal.. The council came mob handed every day, I asked for separate bathroom break as I felt intimidated by the staff. I actually torn the ligaments in my knee rushing to the bathroom and ended up on crutches. How much council tax was spent on staff attending an 8 day hearing (when the staff were not needed in court..is this the bullying way??) and of course Barristers fees?

David Bartlett seems to have a massive crush on their Chief Executive. Maybe he gets aroused every time he writes the words "Liverpool Direct"?

I have worked for many companies who run staff loyalty and recognition schemes very similar to those launched by Liverpool Direct, but curiously they have not been hung, drawn and quartered for doing so. Perhaps David would care to explain why he has focused on this one, rather than those operated by other firms in Liverpool (both public and private). Do exercise caution as you type though. I don't want you to have an accident as you respond. That could be very messy.

Ronnie de Ramper said:

Thanks, Seymour. Good to see LDL have got the executive payroll working on this case. Which branch of corporate PR do you work in? And can you tell us why your outfit delivers such dismal value-for-money to the citizens of Liverpool?

Seymour Money Than He Ever Dreamed Of.
Ahh must be the Doctors work.

LDL's actions show them for what they are. It's always rather sad & pathetic when individuals & firms "ban" blogs. It's a bit like dropping the link to another blog after a spirited online exchange. Isn't it, David?
