It would seem that Liberal Democrat Colin Eldridge is wearing his parliamentary ambitions on his sleeves.
The wannabe MP for Wavertree was spotted at tonight's full council meeting sporting a pair of snazzy cufflinks picturing the Houses of Parliament.

That's it? The Lib Dems lose their first vote for 11 years, with their amendment to Labour's motion being defeated 35 votes to 34, and the best you can come up with from the council meeting is 'Sensation: Colin Eldridge wears fancy cufflinks'?

Thanks the message. I wasn't there last nigh. I came into the office this morning and found out about that particular vote and I'm working on it today, as well as wading through MPs' expenses. I found out about Colin Eldridge's cufflinks before the vote had taken place.
Far from being arrogant, the cufflinks were actually a good luck present to Colin to thank him for arranging a visit to parliament at short notice, for a group of local children on a school trip to London.
So david, on this great matter of state, may we know the source for the great cufflinks scoop?
