This picture sums up Elizabeth Pascoe's campaign to save her home off Edge Lane.

Today she moves out after losing her battle to stay in her home. You can read the full story HERE.

Very soon those passing down Edge Lane will see physical activity as bulldozers start pulling down homes.

The area that Ms Pascoe has fought so hard to save will be unrecognisable. The departure of the campaigning grandmother will bring about the much delayed start of the scheme to overhaul the area.

Pascoe was and remains a divisive figure. To her Bevel group she was the shinning light in the campaign to stop the public authorities pulling down their homes.

But she was not popular with officials and some residents in the area who blame her for the delay of the scheme and increasing costs.

In the end though she will be remembered for fighting for a cause she believed in, even if she ultimately lost. Her struggle is an example of one of the good things about our country.

She used a fundamentally British right to defend her home through, what became, a long drawn out legal process.

But would we really want it any other way?

I'm proud of Elizabeth Pascoe, one of the nicest people I've known. Wherever she winds up, her neighborhood will be better for it.
