Conservative suspended after anti-gay 'limp wristed' gibe at Labour campaigners
When a press released dropped in my inbox from Wallasey MP Angela Eagle's team about alleged homophobia from a Wirral Conservative I knew there was only one way it was going to end - in tears.
And so it proved. My colleague Liam Murphy, who covers the Wirral, reports on the antics of Cllr Denis Knowles, who last year defected from Labour, in today's paper.
As you can see from the screen grab he is bang to rights. But that didn't stop him trying to deny it to Liam.
He was later forced to admit it. But instead of just apologising he went on to claim his Facebook page was hacked and that his comments have been "either misunderstood or misconstrued for political reasons, something that I have said in all innocence".
He now finds himself suspended by the Conservatives and this is the second damaging story for the Tories in the space of a week as the battle for the Wallasey gets ever more fractious.

He ought to be expelled from the Tory Party NOW!
Well he hadn't been in the Tories for long so either he suddenly developed these attitudes after defecting or he had them all along, including during his time in Labour. Did labour do anything about this? Clearly not. This sounds like opportunism of the worst sort.
