Labour launch attack website: Come Clean Colin

By David Bartlett on Apr 28, 10 03:54 PM in

comecleacolingrab.jpgThe Liverpool Labour party are racheting up the pressure on Liberal Democrat parliamentary hopeful for Liverpool Wavertree Colin Eldridge with the launch of a new website.

ComeCleanColin.co.uk says it aims "bring you the stories Mr Eldridge doesn't want you to see. We will expose this man for his hypocrisy, double standards and dishonesty to you, the electorate.

"You can let us know if you have any more experiences of the man from Bristol, and we'll challenge him to come clean."

But the Lib-Dems have dismissed the professional looking site, which has a companion Twitter feed and Facebook site as desperate.

Tom Morrison, Eldridge's election agent, said: "This is a desperate attempt at smearing the Liberal Democrat candidate. The Labour Party are clearly running scared."

This is surely one for anoraks only. Come on Joe, you can do better than this, surely? Interns and his football allegiances....FFS! Pointless and juvenile. A. Complete. Turn. Off.

Anderson is desperate. He really is a very small minded man who would ruin Liverpool if he ever got into a position of power. Serious Labour politicians know it !

who said this was joe's work? has the look of sion to me. slick, professional, ultimately pointless. election already lost.

Talk about pots and kettles. How Dude the Dog has the nerve to criticise I dont know. You either approve of anonymous satirical websites, or you don't. "Only when my side are publishing them" is hypocrisy.

andrew shearwood said:

it does state at the bottom that it is published by joe anderson. i do find it hilarious that luciana is still claiming to have a campaign based solely on policy.. um yeah, if you're gonna use stuff like this dear at least have the guts to admit it.

the claims on that site are pretty farcical, "nick clegg supports fox hunting" funny that he should state on paxman when asked that he would not vote to repeal the ban.

Cutting winter fuel payments for all 60 to 65 year olds, again untrue. the fuel payments would only be cut for those still in full time employment in order to extend the benefit to the disabled and terminally ill. how evil of us.

I suppose its a routine thing over at labour hq, when in doubt lie, lie and lie again and hope people will believe you.

This is a fascinating website - and the comments from Lib Dems here are interesting as well. This is the party that has run the amateur looking Dude the Dog for years - a website which exists solely to smear and make fun of opposition politicians.

Yet Labour come up with what is, lets face it, a well designed, well conceived and well formulated website, and all of a sudden the Lib Dems are up in arms!

Pot - kettle - black, anyone?

I wonder if Colin will actually respond to any of the things on this website?

A concerned resident of church said:

In no way could this be compared to DTD. Joe Anderson is responsible for this site...it says so!

If DTD had "promoted by Andrew Makinson" at the bottom then it would be a valid comparison.

mrsgilliansmith said:

Is there any truth in the rumour that the names of people who signed the Echo's petition presented to a Labour Minister are now in the hands of Prescot Road Labour HQ ?

mrsgilliansmiths dad said:

Is there any word yet on what happened to the 'thousands' of names that Colin collected for his aldery hey campaign, but which never saw the light of day?

Surely the Lib Dems would never use this personal data to compile a database to contact people? They're against databases of all kinds, aren't they?

Ah actually my apologies - I forgot, the Lib Dems principles are only applicable in certain cases, and excusable in others.

scouser tommy said:

what a ridiculous quote from tom morrison! how on earth anyone can dismiss this as 'running scared' is a mystery to me. he is, quite clearly, deluded.

great website. about time we had some proper scrutiny of the lib dem candidate - God knows the labour candidate has had her fair share

Louise Baldock said:

When it was first published, DTD did have an imprint, someone with the first name of Peter from memory, at the Garmoyle.

mrsgilliansmith said:

Who IS Dude the Dog ? I've heard fourteen names offered up as his real identity - even down to the mole in Prescot Road !

Jack Cook said:

What is unbelievable is Joe Ando' who has aspirations to lead my great city, would stoop as low as this against a political opponent. Not only that he has and will continue to get people sacked from their careers by making allegations against them just because they're not dancing to his political tune; he will stalk people because he believes some made up rumour about where they live; he will bully members of the his party if they dont toe his line. He is a disgrace and should be exposed for all of his short comings, answers on a postcard.

Don't finish the bottle, Jack, for Heaven's sake

Have fun on the internet whilst you can, point scoring and gaming....only a few days to the next stage of 'reality' and all this is for nothing....we are doomed...doomed...doomed...

mrsgilliansmith said:

Joe Anderson acts like a foul mouthed thug. Labour members demean themselves by allowing him to bully them into submission - get rid of him, the man is an embarrassment to this city.

mrsgilliansmith is fake said:

...unlike LibDem convicted criminal Steve Hurst, who really is a foul-mouthed thug

mrsgilliansmith said:

How dare you ! I am a real ordinary woman in the street just like Mrs Duffy. If that Gordon Brown shows his face when I'm about he'll get a piece of my mind I can tell you !

mrsgilliansmith is a bloke said:

Don't be silly. You're a LibDem bloke pretending to be a woman. It's laughably obvious

disgusted said:

The Lib Dems gatecrash the Old Swan Festival today to promote themselves. The Festival was meant to be focused on raising money in aid of the Joseph Lappin Foundation. Are there no depths to which the Lib Dems will stoop?

Rosette said:

In short - no!

Lib Dems have been convicted as criminals for their political campaign tactics. Say no more.

Tom Morrison said:

In response to the above two posts. Keith and Colin were helping at the festival today by selling raffle tickets to the public, raising over £300.

Any attempt to smear both Cllr Turner and Colin for helping a community event is deeply offensive.

Disgusted said:

But, as most people were concentrating on raising funds for Joe Lappin, perhaps the Lib Dems should have forgone party political promotion. Sadly they chose not to. Labour chose deliberately not to turn up (aside from the vicar and his wife who are very involved with the issue) after guidance from Joe Lappin's family. The Lib Dems sadly decided to make it political. How low do they wish to stoop? Tom, tell us where you would not turn up.

Disgusted said:

Deeply offensive - even as a Labour supporter myself, I don't think your accusations are particularly warranted or acceptable

mrsgilliansmith said:

I can assure this appalling person who is stalking me on this blog that I am most certainly all woman and if I ever find out who this individual is I will give them a good handbagging.

mrsgilliansmith drag queen said:

You protest too much, dearie

Councillor Berni Turner said:

As ever Labour don't allow the facts to get in the way of a smear campaign! For the last three years I have chaired the working party for the Old Swan Festival. For the last two years it has been held in memory of Joseph Lappin and both Colin and Keith have served in the working group that organises the event alongside other community leaders and the Lappin family. The event was not political in any way and to suggest so is not only offensive but quite frankly disgusting tactics from a pathetic and cowardly candidate and her cronies.

Frankly Disgusting said:

Good heavens, Bernie! You didn't string all that together on your own, did you? Even down to the aggressively agitated alliteration at the end?

mrsgilliansmith said:

Joe Anderson's Labour Party is totally and utterly beneath contempt. They do not belong to the human race.

Robbie Quinn said:

Well Frankly distgusting you have not the courage to be upfront and leave you real name. Is this a trick borrowed from the BNP by new labour. The fact is that not only do you and the other people who have commented on yesterdays event in such a childish and imbicile way attack the Lib Dems you also attack Merseyside Police, Local Businesses and members of the local community. And sadly you also insult the family of an innocent young man who have contributed so positively to campaigning against violent crime in our City. I hope you can live with your vile self.

Deeply Vile said:

OK, Robbie, this is my real name. Now what about Berni Turner? Is she Berni Turner? Or Berni Quinn? Or Berni Inn? Or what? Come Clean, Robbie. By the way, it's 'imbecile'. Thought you might know already.
