IN FULL: Warren Bradley's email outburst at Nick Clegg warning of election meltdown
From: Bradley, Warren
Subject: LABOUR'S SURGE IN THE NORTH
IN CONFIDENCE - PRIVATE
Dear Nick and the Parliamentarians,
I have to date kept my frustrations and criticisms based on policy rather than just having a go because I don't want to be in bed with the Tories; unfortunately the boil is about to come to a head and burst (probably on election night) when we lose some very well respected and experienced colleagues from Liverpool City Council.
The Labour and Trade Union movement are saturating the streets of Liverpool, even in our heartlands.
Liberalism started in Liverpool (Church Ward) during the late 60's with Sir Trevor Jones and Cyril Carr being the driving force; a ward we have held for many years through thick and thin, sadly this year, because of your actions in Coalition Government, this may not be the case. Never before in 35+ years have I seen the streets of Wavertree snooing with Labour activists, never before have I seen Labour posters in a local election.
This is only down to the policies that our Parliamentarians are pursuing in Coalition Government.
The position is untenable, Mike Storey having given many decades to the party is extremely vulnerable, and could well fall because of the Parliamentary party.
Many other long serving Councillors could be defeated not because of their record, but because of your record and the perception of what we as Liberal Democrats now are.
I only hope on the 6th May, you will meet with Leaders/Groups/ordinary members and seek their views following a set of results, which if mirrored by our canvass returns will place us back 40 years.
I and many of my colleagues in Liverpool and the North are tired of defending the indefensible, as a party we have to reconsider what and who we are before we disappear into the annuls of history as a political party who promised so much hope, yet failed because they wanted control and power.
This is not a moan because I want to be someone, I deeply care about the party I have campaigned for since its inception, as I did for the Liberals before when I was a little boy, as did both my parents and virtually all my family; Liverpool and the North needs and deserves an alternative to Labour, but at present, after knocking on many doors, all I feel is dejection and upset that the Lib Dems, the party the people trusted implicitly have become like the others and deserted their followers.
I hope you take this in the spirit it is meant, liberal principles have to shine through, we have to be independent and we have to sever ties from the coalition; if we fail to do this, we have only our Parliamentarians to blame.
Yours sincerely
Cllr. Warren Bradley
Leader of the Liberal Democrats
Liverpool City Council

I need to take stock before I respond to this. As you might imagine, I'm shocked, quite shocked, by it. Can it really be true that the citizens of Wavertree are preparing to evacuate themselves all over the head of the recently ennobled Lord Storey? Is the freshly-minted Ermined One to be treated with no greater respect than Come Clean Colin? Has the peasantry no sense of duty anymore? Gerard, my chum? What say you in this hour of need? Wipe your eyes, my boy. Wipe whatever. But tell us, please: is this a wipeout?
Possibly the most amusing email in Bradley's dire history. Glad Paxo pointed out the spelling mistake tonight. The Fireman should be treated with utter contempt.
I found the Echo coverage of this a bit surprising to say the least, since it consisted mostly of repeating verbatim the somewhat hysterical and histrionic claims of Bradley.
After nominating his son, shurely he is now fully discredited?
Why no explanation of how the email came into the hands of the Echo?
Ok you never reveal a source, but maybe we should be given some insight into whether this was a deliberate leak by Bradley, one of his council colleagues, a Lib dem MP, or Clegg's lackeys?
And maybe an analysis of what Bradley is hoping to achieve by writing it?
A sympathy vote?
To shore up disappearing support?
To make the result on May 5 seem not as bad?
To undermine Storey, in particular?
And no analysis of the truth of his claims - are Labour flooding the streets?
I dont think Labour's campaign is any stronger than it was last year - admittedly it was very strong then.
But no reaction from Anderson? Why not?
And what about Storey, Bradley's former colleague. No reaction from him about his former proteges campaign?
Nothing from inside the Lib Dem group about Bradley's current mental state (which seems parlous by the tone of his letter).
Maybe I should offer to be News Editor?
Ahh but ahh but....I have what is allegedly the original draft not this tidied up version printed here and on the BBC. Although it could be a mischievous fake. A bit like Clegg!

Warren Bradley says: the streets of Wavertree snooing with Labour activists What can this mean? What is âsnooâ? Could he mean âsnowingâ, âsnoringâ, âsnoopingâ? Or is it some dialect word meaning âparading about in happy confident moodâ? We asked the experts. At Hope Uni, a spokesdrone said: âWeâd very much like to help. But being a future-centric university of recent origin, we anticipate a negligible contribution from academic staff to our modern mission. They really are all in this together â redundant, that isâ Over at John Moores, the spokesbot responded suspiciously. ââSnooingâ? Is it Libyan? Donât know anything about it then. Anyhow, this university has long since abolished entry requirements for spelling. In fact weâve pretty much abolished entry requirements, full stop LOL. And if you kwote me, Iâll sooâ Finally, we tried the University of Liverpool where the braided spokestoff explained that no one was available to assist because everyone had departed for the Easter hols weeks ago. âTry again in Mayâ, he suggested, âbut it wonât do much good - our four month summer break starts in Juneâ. So it remains a mystery. My guess is that snooing refers to the sound made by Warren Bradley as he extracts himself from Sharon Greenâs embrace.
To Snoo or Not to Snoo, that is the question!
As a dyed in the wool Labour supporter I must take issue those who criticise Warren's use of the word "snooing". I am in my mid 70's and this word was used frequently in the past. For example you would say "the house is snooing with mice". "The place is snooing with police" meaning they were everywhere. Although I cannot see any snooing of Laborites around Wavertree where I also live. Don't be hard on Warren, he's suffering enough and he has done his best for our area. Shame he's got a rotten boss!!
I saw this definition of 'snooing' on urbandictionary.com. just enter the word you want a meaning for. I very nearly snooed myself I'm not ashamed to say when I saw what it means.
As a dead in the water Lib Duck I think Mr Bradley is snookered. As usual, he is already saying he didn;t say what he said and Nick is great but he stands by everything he says and never regrets anything he does. Usually he denies it instead.
I must apologise for telling the truth
about the expert bull******** of the LD
party.Truth hurts at times.
I hope you'll be allowed to print this
So much for academic and University bods. If you want to know anything ask the people from the University of Life - there are loads of us "snooing" all over Liverpool. Could elaborate more but cba at the moment. lol. See even in our 70s we are computer literate even though we only achieved a Primary School education leaving age the age of 15 to go into the big wide world!!!
This hasnt been leaked out , its just another publicity stunt for from warren bradley. I think nick clegg should loose the looser on grounds of fraud, Forgeing his own sons signature and signing him up to the council when his son didnt want to know.
Snooing goes global. Facebook sites have been set up; Snoo support groups established. T-shirts are on their way. So get down to Wavertree and snoo your merry life away, There's snoo stopping us now...
Maybe this is a fair and honest account of Cllr Bradleys feelings towards the party he has supported for so long, rightly so and fair play, or maybe not. He is just in the same position as most of us, wondering how much longer he can keep his job under this coalition government. How can he truely believe that if the LD's do break away from the coalition that they will still have supporters(besides his deluded self)? The deal with the devil has already been done and there is no turning back for the LD's. Buy the ticket, take the ride!!!
Does Warren even know the post 2004 boundaries? Church Rd is now in Wavertree ward not Church ward. Maybe he wants Kemp to lose?
Can the Labour activist known as "L15" please consult a boundary map; as activists - and dedicated Cllrs such as Warren - knows, part of Church Road does indeed fall within Wavertree's boundaries.
Try better next time and go join the shadows with the other Labour jackels on here.
"Labour jackals", for pity's sake. What is it with LibDems and spelling?
I (kindly) point out, it is in fact 'Head Teacher', not 'Headteacher', and the abb. for the party that you have used is 'Lib Dem', not, alas, 'LibDem'.
Now go look at your boundary map like a good boy, and make special use of your 'space' key next time.
I think the guy who copies every comment on here into a Word document for the spell checker is confusing 'Headteacher' (incorrect spelling) for 'Headmaster' (correct spelling).
Bless 'im.
I may now be a Peer of the Realm, but I've long been a primary school Headteacher. So you think I would know how to spell it. Look here:
http://www.primaryheads.org.uk/about/
Well, fancy that!
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/headteacher
"no dictionary results"...
Oh dear, you slipped up. I very much fear I may have given you a nose bleed.
Let this be my final word on the matter

Next week's copy of the Focus will include a double page insert on the Lib Dems campaign for the correct spelling of Headteacher / Head Teacher.
Liverpool's Lib Dems: Fighting the fights that matter (mainly amongst themselves)
or equally, just make it up as you go along - true Labour campaign style.
Liverpool Labour: Fighting the Cuts we Caused.
Well so long then Warren, its not as if you'd have had much of a party left to lead post May 5th. I hope you and your colleagues enjoy your well earned place of the "annals of history", as you certainly don't have much of a future.
