Joe Anderson and Max Steinberg in DLIB Christmas video
Happy Christmas from Brightmoon Media on Vimeo.
Liverpool council leader Joe Anderson and Liverpool Vision chief executive Max Steinberg star in this Down Town Liverpool in Business Christmas video, you'll have to watch to near the ned to catch them though.

What on earth does the leader of this City think he is doing? As he cuts sure starts, care homes and so many other services in the city he is larking about with Derek Hatton, he is on another planet...
In response to James Hutton: Don't tarnish Joe Anderson as the grim reaper. Fact is fact, he has had to make some undesireable decisions, which he has loathed. He is a great man under immense pressure. This video shows a human side to him. It,s fun, non political and I for one am pleased to see him let his hair down...what hair he's got. Merry Christmas and non of ya bah humbug
It is not the larking about that is the problem, it is the company he is keeping.
Some wil remember Hatton for his militant association. Others will remember him for the LCC corruption trial in Mold ( of which he ws acquitted ).
All will remember him for helping send Liverpool's labour party into the dark wilderness for a long long time.
People remember business' pulling out of Liverpool in those dark days because they did not like what was going on.
Some will say that to hold a great position, you must be a great man. Others will say that holding a great position merely gives you an opportunity to become a great man.
Big questions over the LDL contract renewal. Big questions over the Peel connection. Then up pops Hatton.
Liverpool needs the business' to come here.
The question is if you were one of those business' thinking of setting up and you saw the leader of the council in this video with the infamous Derek Hatton, would you be more or less likely to do so ?
I love it! It's a nice laid-back video.
Joe is obviously enjoying himself with that tinsel at the end, I suggest you use that picture for your next leaflet Joe!
Jake.
It's a Frank McKenna production. Surely no one looks to Frank McKenna for taste and good judgement
Looking at it again closely, the bit with Joe Anderson in does not contain any other person and the background is not much help. Is this a video splice put up job ?
Clearly Cllr Anderson is in a video that contains Derek Hatton. He is not WITH Derek Hatton and it is unfair to tarnish him that way. Similarly, it is wrong to have a go at him for making unpopular decisions - decisions he must make because the alternative is the city's demise.
However, it is fair to criticise the LDL association and the ready acceptance of big business (not the businesses that add value, not the ones that actually drive regeneration but simply the glamorous ones).
It is the same old Labour politician failing. For the Tories it is what happens between the sheets, for Labour it is always the hypnotising effect of business.
Labour in this city is doing many great things but the wrapping of its politicians around the thumb of certain chief executives and of the fingers of certain business people will be their ulitimate undoing. Because whilst they appear to be dealing with the short terms issues the long term effects will be bad. Bad company produces bad results.
So it may be nice to see Cllr Anderson celebrate Christmas here and we hope he has a good one because it is a difficult job he does. However, it is unpalatable to see the city's politicians manipulated by elements who have their own self-interest and not that of the city at heart.
Wonder which Labour councillor is "same old"?
The point is, that it shows a lack of judgement on Anderson's part to be involved in anything that Hatton is also involved in.
Frank McKenna is simply a self publicist who has brought nothing to the development of the city, or its businesses.
The video is all about McKenna's ego and also shows his immaturity and lack of judgement in associating with Hatton. Anderson has let himself be used by McKenna's crowd of self-important ne'er do wells, in the same way that McElhinney and Halsall and Henshaw have all successfully used him in the past.
He is a dupe (correct spelling).
As for Jake Morrison's comment - typical of an obscure, juvenile and egotistical politician who has achieved his 15 minutes of fame far too early.
If this lot could eat themselves they would. Embarrassing to think this lot are the supposed to be the best networking group then no wonder where in mess!!
And as for the other two blurts appearing on it!!! What where they thinking??
What does Steinburg actually do?? Can someone tell me?
He has an office full of over paid and under worked shirkers who attach themselves to everything and anything!!! It's Liverpool, ha ha ???
Anderson, lets not even go there.
