Liberal Democrats select candidate for Wavertree and it is not Warren Bradley

wavertree_leaflet1.jpgFinally we have confirmation - not that we really needed it - that the Liberal Democrats have no plans to welcome Warren Bradley back into the fold once his alleged electoral fraud case is over.

A Dale St reader emailed me a copy of this leaflet of the Lib-Dems' candidate for Wavertree Kevin White, who thinks Liverpool council are not doing enough to collect bins on time.

Cllr Bradley is due for re-election in May and currently sits as a councillor without party after having been suspended by the Lib-Dems after allegations of electoral fraud, which are still being investigated.

Suspension, they say is a neutral act, but Cllr Bradley also had some choice remarks about his Lib-Dem colleagues after his suspension.

So with the selection of Kevin White to run in Wavertree it seems to be fairly clear proof that he will not be welcome back, whatever the outcome.

I've also previously speculated that he might run as an independent - which Cllr Bradley has not yet ruled out.

"Kevin White is already campaigning in Wavertree taking up residents' issues," we're told, with a photo of Kev on the knocker in Wavertree to prove it! But on closer inspection this looks to me very much like view from the doorstep of the Lib Dems HQ on Garmoyle Road. Not only will you not find residents there, it's in the wrong ward. Come on Kev, next thing you'll be dragging an old matress round alleyways demanding it's removed!

Kenny Black is correct in pointing out that the "taking up residents issues" photo is taken outside the Gregson - at least it looks like it on Google Streetview. What he didn't say is that the photo of Kevin and Cllr Jolly posing behind a bulging wheelie bin looks suspiciously like it was taken in the same road the Councillor lives in. Given that the first photos was 'set up' could it be that the wheelie bin pic was also 'set up'? Who knows? Maybe it's a metaphor for genuine missed bins.

And it's surely a coincidence that we also received a flyer from Cllr Bradley saying that he'd raised the question of missed bin collections in a council meeting and (wait for it....) got an answer! Pardon me, but isn't that what councillors are supposed to be doing anyway, asking questions when council services aren't going the way they should be? Does it really merit a piece of paper through every door just to tell us that?

Councillor Bradley only has himself to blame made a load of idiots Cab members who done nothing Fielding Afford Twigger turner we could go on lets hope we get a councillor who will work for the area and not run round the city getting his photo taken in every ward bar wavertree.

We need a councillor who will work for the ward and get things done not just a seven day wonder.

Putting aside party politics, it would be great to have another councillor who's as active, enthusiastic and *visible* as Jake Morrison. I've heard more from and about Jake since his election this year (bulletins, twitter, facebook, newspaper features, radio, TV) than I've every heard from Cllr Jolly in the whole time she's been in the council.

Kevin White? A decent bloke, by all accounts. A bit like Warren Bradley in fact - uncontaminated by brain power. Maybe this explains why Kevin, despite living in their ward, was unable to persuade Paul Clein & wife Jan to sign his nomination papers last year. Strange business

all the hall marks of a T Morrison special.

Yes, Graham, but what you have heard from Jake Morrison is the usual self-promoting, ego-maniacal nonsense from a teenage nincompoop who loves himself and the sound of his own voice.

It's only took 8 months for the rubbish to start coming out, great!

What Graham, a resident of Wavertree has actually heard from me, is issues regarding his area that had, and still remain, neglected by the lib dem Councillors.

Issues surrounding the Junction on Picton Road, Lib Dems ask for a report in to it, with no action taken... I'm in for 4 months and there is increased road safety measures on that Junction (Rathbone Rd, Wellington Rd, Picton Rd).

Graham has also heard information about the alleyways in his area (the dales), issues with cleaning, alleygates broken. All issues took up by with the local councillors and dealt with by me.

Wavertree Residents are finally getting the representation they deserve, and things are getting done.

Thank you for your comment, "Not Graham Holland".

It's really sad when a young, enthusiastic, hard-working councillor comes along and rather than gaining respect for speaking out about the issues that matter to the local residents and trying to get things done about them (isn't that what councillors are supposed to do?) is instead subject to childish comments like yours.

Jake is making a concerted effort to get out and meet people. He's talking to business owners, meeting senior citizens over a game of bingo, visiting the local schools, chatting to people on the street. He's taking an active interest in our concerns, rather than the passive interest that's been adopted by far too many local councillors in the past. And anyone who's actually met Jake will know he's not doing this because he's looking for some sort of self-glorification as you claim, but because he actually cares and wants to make a difference.

For me, if it's a choice between the faked-up photos and old-school politics of the recent Lib Dem 'Focus on Wavertree" Kevin White Selected! Special, or the 'roll up your sleeves and visibly get things done' approach of Councillor Jake Morrison, then it's really no contest (as Mike Storey found out to his cost).

And if you'd going to hide behind a fake online name, please don't use mine.
