The story on page three of today's Daily Post has all the hallmarks of a classic comedy politics spat.

On the face of it the Liberal Democrats have black-listed a number of voters, and to add insult to injury the word 'nutters' appears above the list.

Trade unionist Claire Traynor who was on the list is outraged, but Sefton Lib-Dem leader Tony Robertson says there is an innocent explanation.

You can read his full explanation here. Essentially he says Nutters is the name of the delivery group.

He ends his explanation with: "Labour were trying to say that we Lib Dems were saying that the houses not to be delivered (these are noted on the delivery note) were being called 'nutters'. I ask you, how childlike is this?"

Childlike this may all be. But I'm sure it made a few people smile this morning when they read it.

She has the look of a Trade Unionist. Full of laughs and jokes, she is! Salt of the earth, life and soul of the party.

The problem is that this is the level of political debate in this country. Rather than apply there minds to coming up with a workable manifesto and engaging in constructive debate, they do stuff like this.

Is it any coincidence that the press relations at Sefton South Labour is an ex echo man?
