Lord storey rules out running for elected mayor

By David Bartlett on Feb 9, 12 02:19 PM in Liberal Democrats

Former Liverpool council leader Lord Storey has categorically ruled out running as the Liberal Democrat candidate for elected mayor.

There has been a lot of chatter in political circles about whether he might be willing to have a go.

Today he told me: "I will not be a candidate for it because I have got a job to do in the House of Lords.

"I have only been here for a year and I am not going to suddenly walk away from that. I want to have a period of time here first before I look at other opportunities."

So there you have it folks, he is not standing.

Some good news at last, though of course it would have been fun to watch him score nil point, now perhaps we can get his knighthood removed....

This is one for Colin Eldridge, surely. Or Berni Turner. And Steve Hurst as Lib Dem candidate for Police Commissioner

Think you have to be Lib Dem member to stand

It's a good job Lord Storey isn't going to get the job. He'd have been a Lord AND a Major, but not the Lord Major. Far too confusing...

This is one for Colin Eldridge,

I hate to see grown men cry, if he can't handle losing the Wavertree election imagine him losing this one, mummy's shoulder will be saturated.

As for the quisling Story not putting his name in the hat, anyone with half a brain wouldn't give up the HoL's where he gets a nice fat fee plus expenses for snoring most of the day or the Mayors job which comes with headaches and whining by the bucket load.
