Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson reveals heart scare days after election

Liverpool_mayor_Joe_Anderson.jpgLiverpool mayor Joe Anderson makes some pretty extraordinary revelations in today's ECHO about a heart scare just days after May's election.

"A week after the election - which was probably, arguably, a huge moment for me - I was lying in hospital with all kinds of wires connected to me," he told Paddy Shennan, for our behind the scenes series.

"I was only in there for two days but it brought home how vulnerable you are. They sorted me out by putting my heart back into rhythm. I didn't have a heart attack - although it raises the stakes in terms of that - and it can also happen to people who are skinny."

"I must say the staff at the Royal were wonderful and I sent them chocolates and a card to say 'thank you'."

"Yes, there has been concern in the family that I've taken on too much. My health is at the back of my mind more and I do worry about it and taking too much on."

Joe certainly never has to worry about ever being described as 'skinny.'
