Richard Kemp backs Keaveney for police and crime commissioner candidate

Liverpool Liberal Democrat leader Richard Kemp believes Paula Keaveney is the party's perfect candidate for police and crime commissioner

As revealed on DSA earlier today Keaveney is set to be selected as the party's candidate.

Cllr Kemp had this to say: "I am delighted Paula was prepared to stand.

"She probably has the key element for this election, which is that she is very media friendly.

"Paula will present a good face for the party, she is very knowledgeable and experienced. I have no doubt the party will adopt her."

Excuse my cynicism, but I'm not convinced Cllr Kemp understands what the role of Crime Commissioner entails.

"Vote for Paula Keaveney if you want a Crime Commissioner who is media friendly and a good face for the Lib Dems." He says she's knowledgeable and experienced, but doesn't say anything about how her knowledge and experience make her a good candidate for the job of Crime Commissioner. Maybe that's to come in the future.

Is anybody really bothered, the Lub Dums only have a handful of people to pick from; how ironic the few members that remain who have a vote have the choice between a loser or reopen nominations - could the loser lose again to reopen nominations, and then maybe they can put Mike Storey's dog up, as he duly obeys his master!
