Liverpool council to announce "brutal" cuts

Liverpool council is preparing to announce its next round of cuts, and it is going to be "brutal".

Labour councillors have been called to an "extraordinary" group meeting, according to an email leaked to Dale Street Associates.

It will take place on Friday, ahead of an announcement next week.

Residents can expect council tax to be frozen, but otherwise the cuts will be "brutal" one insider told me.

Here's that email:

"An extraordinary meeting of the Labour Group has been called for this Friday 1st February at 5pm. The meeting will take place in the Town Hall chamber.

"The meeting is to discuss the third tranche of budget proposals. This will be the only item on the agenda save for any other issues of note from the Leader. It is important that the Labour Group gets to see and discuss these proposals before they are made public and, given the time period, Friday is the only available time to do this.

"The proposals will be available for members to read from 4.30pm and the meeting will start at 5pm."

And I have no doubt whatsoever that the rump Lib Dem group that's left will be in full support, and leave the opposition to John Coyne and Steve Radford.

Asking questions are truly pleasant thing if you are not understanding something entirely, except this post provides fastidious understanding even.
