May 2009 Archives

Like most people my age, as a child I ran around the playground playing Transformers with my friends. For some reason I was always an Autobot, but as long as it was Jazz I didn't really mind. But on the few occasions I was allowed to be a Decepticon, I was always Soundwave. Why? Because he had the coolest voice and had cool cassette tapes which transformed into little creatures to do his bidding.
Leaping forward a (ahem) few years and I'm now totally confused by the Transformers universe. What I once considered well know friends have undergone the most radical, and in my opinion god awful, makeovers I've ever seen.

So the big day has finally arrived and I'm all set to reveal which show got the number one spot. But have you agreed with my choices? Were there any glaringly obvious shows I missed which deserved to be mentioned more than the five which made the list? And more importantly, what would your top five shows be? Drop me a line at cheryl.mullin@liverpool.com with your views, geeky news and gossip.

The penultimate show to make the list before the top slot is revealed. Do you agree with the list so far? See if you agree with this one..

Over half way through now, see if you agree with this one.

Today I reveal which I think is the fourth classic sci fi show cut down in its prime.

The axing of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles got me thinking about other classic sci fi shows that were cut short in their prime.
The most obvious of course being the original Star Trek series, which was dropped after just three series. But there was a happy ending for Star Trek, there are a lot of great shows for which the future was not so bright.
So over the next five days I'll be bringing you my top five sci fi shows that ended before their time...

It's my sad duty to announce that the axe has fallen on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Unveiling Fox's 2009/10 schedule Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly said: "It was not an inexpensive show. We looked at ratings track where it had a consistent run. That trend line was not pointing in the right direction. We did a huge launch with that show. It was time to move on."

It may be a little early, but I've already found what I want Santa to bring me for Christmas.

Excitement is mounting in Mullin Towers as the release date for Terminator Salvation looms.
I'm eager and, if truth be told, a bit apprehensive to see what McG has done with the movie (I still can't get the bad taste out of my mouth after watching the abomination that was Charlie's Angels!)
But I have high hopes, some of the new machines which will feature in the movie look great - especially the Harvesters which you see a glimpse of in the trailer (if you've not seen it yet, look below)

The box offices figures aren't even in yet and the writers of the Star Trek sequel have been announced.
Damon Lindelof will join Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman to pen the as yet unnamed sequel to this weekend's movie release.
Lindelof comes from good stock, as he co-created Lost along with Trek director JJ Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber.
There are no details as to the plot or indeed a release date, but as the movie unites the creative teams of Lost and Fringe expect strangeness.
