Ryan Reynolds is The Green Lantern
Waking up to some exciting rumours regarding 2011's The Green Lantern.
Reports are circulating that Ryan Reynolds (last seen as Deadpool in X-men Origins: Wolverine) has been signed up by Warner to play hot shot Air Force Pilot Hal Jordan.
Now the studio had already reportedly screen tested Bradley Cooper (The Hangover and currently playing Lt Templeton 'Faceman' Peck in the new A-Team movie) and teen heartthrob Justin Timberlake for the role, so this announcement is a bit left field.
Reynolds has already proved himself to be a good actor - Smokin' Aces (also featuring a very un-Kirk Chris Pine) was fantastic, Blade: Trinity less so, but that had nothing to do with him. And the guy can be forgiven for a number of questionable 'ahem' chick flicks.

Director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) is expected to begin filming in January with the script now completed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green.
I'm quite pleased with the choice to be honest, Reynolds' does well playing the charming, wise-cracking, smart-mouthed type, and if nothing else it will put production of Deadpool (also scheduled for a 2011 release) on hold. God, X-Men Origins: Wolverine stank - was it just me?
