Red Dwarf to get a tenth series
It's just been announced at Dimension Jump 09 that Red Dwarf has been commissioned for a tenth season.
Fans at the Red Dwarf convention in Birmingham were the first to be told the news.
Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) broke the news to fans on Twitter, and within hours the show was a trending topic.
But Llewellyn was quick to stress that new scripts have been commissioned first, with filming expected to begin sometime in 2010 if they are greenlighted.
I have to say that while I genuinely love Red Dwarf, that last Back to Earth 'special' was absolutely dire.
Whoever was responsible for it should hang their head in shame.
I've got everything crossed that the new series will be a return to form - the actors and the fans deserve it.
To tide us all over to 2010, classic Red Dwarf.
Rimmer: Step up to red alert
Kryten: Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb.

God I hope it's better than the dreck that was the awful Back To Earth. Only lasted fully through the first episode, skimmed the other 2 and were shocked to discover they were full of the things that your primary school teacher would give you a kicking for.
I mean... Coronation Street??
Just no.
Really.
NO
I like Red Dwarf.
I couldn't agree more about Back to Earth - what were they thinking?
Do you acknowledge that this is correct time to receive the loans, which would make you dreams real.
