JUDGE DEATH

Leader of the Dark judges and quite possibly one of the most sinister characters ever committed to print, today's offering is Judge Death.
Created by John Wagner and Brian Bolland, he made his debut in 2000 AD in 1980, and is one of my personal favourites.

Starting life as Sidney De'ath, he discovers from a young age that he enjoys inflicting pain on others. His first taste of murder comes when he kills three bullies from his school and he goes on to be responsible for the arrest and execution of his father and the deaths of his mother and sister.
After school he seeks a legitimate way to follow his sadistic interests and joins the judges, who quickly give him the nickname Judge Death. Judge Death.jpg
A chance encounter with the 'Sisters of Death' leads Sidney to believe they can help him achieve his goal of total justice - the complete annihilation of life.
He reasons that since all crime is committed by the living, then life itself must be a crime.
The sisters Phobia and Nausea use their powers to turn Sidney into Judge Death, an undead monster who joins with the other Dark Judges and sets out to eradicate his world of life.
Judge Death reaches into the chests of his victims and squeezes their heart with his razor sharp fingers until it bursts telling them: 'The crime is life, the sentence is death.'
But once there is no-one left to kill in Deadworld, he sets his sights further afield and crosses dimensions landing in Mega City One and entering the world of Judge Dredd.
The paths of Judges Dredd and Death cross numerous times with Death eventually being sent out into the Cursed Earth.
There he hones his killing methods and attempts to launch a nuclear weapon on Mega City One. But the city fights back and his body is destroyed, releasing his spirit into the ether.
There it is attacked by the soul of one of his victims, who opens a pit to hell. Death was last seen being dragged into the fiery depths by the vengeful ghosts of all those he had slaughtered.
His character has not been since - but who knows what the future holds?

Judge Death should be hinted at in the new Dredd film, which should definitely be based on Apocalypse War ;)
