Jean Grey
Jean Grey is one of the original five X-Men and the wife of Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops.
The character was created by Marvel legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared as Marvel Girl in X-Men #1, published in 1963.
Jean is the daughter of Dr. John Grey and Elaine Grey, born with extraordinary telepathic and telekinetic powers which began to appear after she 'felt' the traumatic death of a school friend.
Falling into a coma Jean is taken to see Professor Charles Xavier who, sensing her enormous abilities, telepathically blocks her access to them, allowing her powers to evolve at a more natural pace.
While at school Jean meets and falls in love with fellow student Scott Summers. The pair are part of the original X-Men team helping to battle some of the team's earliest and deadliest foes - including the Sentinels.
Although a caring, nurturing person, Jean is also an Omega-level mutant, which manifests itself as the all powerful and terrifying Phoenix.
Jean Grey has been a constant and important character in the X-Men universe. And despite several attempts to kill her off, she always rises again.

Brett Ratner (just like Gerald Ratner, both purveyors of low quality goods) should have been hung, drawn and quartered for making such a mess of the Dark Phoenix storyline in X3.
