Review: Saw II: Flesh & Blood

IT'S Hallowe'en, so it's only fitting we take a look at a game from the world of horror. Unfortunately that game is Saw II: Flesh and Blood - a follow up to last year's relatively well received Saw, based on the movie series.

The Saw movie franchise is one of those you have to scratch your head at and wonder just how it's managed to survive for so long.
What began as a refreshing take on the horror genre has, sadly, become almost a parody of itself.
Yet audiences clearly have an insatiable appetite for the outlandish gore each incarnation brings - and that's exactly what the makers of this video game are relying on.
You play Michael Tapp, estranged son of detective David Tapp, who is investigating his father's recent demise.

And so begins your long and arduous journey through one of the most repetitive games I've had the misfortune to play in a long time.
Within an hour of wading through the same badly constructed levels, you begin to wonder if you've actually become trapped in one of Jigsaw's evil puzzles.
Developed and released in less than a year (and boy can you tell) the game is clearly hoping to cash in on fans who are still willing to shell out for each cinema release.
If you don't heed my warning and really must try this game, do yourself a favour and rent it first.

RATING: 2/10 - Just torturous
BARGAIN BUY: £37.99 at www.zavvi.com
