Halloween games: Jack O Lantern
MY search for a decent Halloween game continues and next on my list is Jack O Lantern.
Think Tim Burton meets Angry Birds and you're pretty close to what Jack O Lantern has to offer.
Designed by homegrown developer Wonky Woo Games, it's your job to help lowly pumpkin Jack on his journey to become the head of a scarecrow.
Wonky Woo Games is an impressive collaboration of family and friends from the games industry. Darren Wood, Paul Charsley and Tim Wright (AKA ColdStorage), have all previously worked at Sony/Psygnosis. Darren and Paul more recently worked at much-missed Bizarre Creations, and Loukia Kyriakidou is the artist behind the game's beautifully atmospheric look.

Using a drag and release technique, you jump Jack along his route avoiding various pitfalls and collecting Halloween candy you go.
As with most games like this it works because it's so simple, yet so addictive. The easier levels at the start give way to some real brainteasers later on.
This type of game is right up my street, I braved repetitive strain injury to take on the Angry Birds, so I was hooked straight away. Problem was before I knew it, the evening had gone and it was time for bed - that for me is always the sign of a good game.
Available through iTunes for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Mac for just 69p - a bargain by anyone's standards.
