April 2008 Archives

stylecitymay1.jpgBeing a city slicker doesn't mean boring fashion as tomorrow's Style City fashion shoot shows you.
Also Emma Johnson reveals why she'd like Madonna to be her gym buddy, Emmerdale's Roxanne Pallett talks about the sexier side of farming and her tips on how to get ready for the red carpet, and bring on the summer as we show you how to transform your home into a sand castle.

earmuffs.jpgTHANKS to the wonders of Sky+ I have finally been able to stop wearing earmuffs in the office.
Note I didn't say "to the office" - my fashion faux pas is strictly limited to my desk, within a building without windows so there's no chance of Anna Wintour wandering past and catching a glance.

Showing a Clean Pair of Heels

I must finally be growing up, because when I took up my new hobby of marathon running I decided to hold off splashing out on the cool tracksuits and "I'm a serious runner" Asics trainers until I'd proved to myself I was fully committed.
Too many times the moment the unpleasant realisation has set in, that to be any good I've got to actually practice, the gear has begun its lonely trek from cupboard to garage to charity shop.

New for old

If you're anything like me, you'll have clothes that you don't like anymore, don't fit anymore or are even 'what was I thinking?' purchases with the tags still on.
I try to do the right thing with these unwanted items and bag them up with the intention of taking them to the charity shop but for some reason, mainly my lack of organisation, they end up sitting in bags for months on end.

IF I were a Doctor Who villain I would infiltrate supermarket self-service check-outs in my bid to take over the world.
Went into M&S on Saturday to buy humous and nibbles for a girlie night in and half my lifetime appeared to pass before I made it out the other side.

Scaling dizzy heights

THERE has been a real old hoo-ha this week over Gwyneth Paltrow's shoes. The blonde one stepped out in a succession of "extreme heels" attracting a blaze of publicity along the way.
While her feet looked in agony in the Alexander McQueen five inchers there is no denying her legs looked amazing.

THE styleometer is back for another week. Here are the things we think are hotter than mustard and colder than custard...

hot

WAITROSE Baby Bottom Butter. It is just £2.49 and for nappy rash but women everywhere are calling it the new wonder cream.

Plastic Fantastic

By Emma Pinch on Apr 25, 08 05:22 PM

We love watching celebs transform themselves into their parallel universe version of pretty...
Jodie Marsh - whatever she might not possess, did at least have perfectly acceptable pair of boobs until recently - then bish bash bosh down the plastic surgeon's, and she's a Lolo Ferrari fright bag.

IT'S art, but not as we know it.
Liverpool's Anthony Brown, creator of the 100 Heads Thinking As One exhibition that is currently touring the country, has collaborated with Microzine to design a range of sports shoes.

Bikinis and the beach

Liz Hurley has launched a new swimwear range for Mango.
Nothing too earth-shattering in this statement but she also admitted that she relies on airbrushing and 'nice photographers' to make her look a 'bit younger and thinner'.
