A problem of packing

By Laura Davis on May 16, 08 08:30 AM

London.jpgOFF to the Big Smoke for a couple of days to see if the streets are paved with gold, not actual gold of the sort Dick Whittington was looking for, but golden sunshine.

Unlike the future Marquis of Carabas I do not have a luggage solution all sorted out - there's no way a red spotted hankerchief on a stick will fit all my belongings inside.

Is it just me or is there no suitcase the right size when you're going away for just a few days? I don't want to squeeze everything into a tote bag but neither can I face wheeling a small caravan along to lunch when I meet the friend I am staying with straight from the train.

I find myself calling her up in advance with a checklist of things she already has that I can now leave out of my packing - straighteners? check, hairdryer? check, bottle opener? check.
Ten tonne bottle of factor 150 suntan lotion for pasty skin? It seems I will be taking the caravan after all.
