A burning issue

By Laura Davis on Jun 30, 08 02:01 PM

lampshade2.jpgTHOUGHT I'd found the solution to the two unsightly burn scars on my lower arm - caused on two separate occasions last month during a baking frenzy after promising to provide sambuca and fairy cakes at a girly gathering.

Have considered filling the bath with Bio Oil because, whatever the claims in those mildly nauseating adverts that bring up scar tissue and stretchmarks while you're eating your tea, rubbing a few drops on every day is making no difference whatsoever.

I would like to pretend the twin marks had been made by the venemous fangs of a reptile, previously undiscovered by naturalists, that I had disturbed from its resting place behind the recycle wheelie bin. But as I never take out the bins, my boyfriend at least would realise that wasn't true.

Retail therapy then was surely the answer. And so when I spotted a chunky bangle printed with the face of an old-fashioned doll in the Design Show Liverpool brochure I thought the Judy Holme creation would be wide enough to cover up the scars.

Unfortunately it was too wide. What had looked small in the photograph was huge in real life - it was a lampshade, not a bangle.
