If the shoe does not fit...
Are you sitting comfortably because I am about to have rant.
You are not a freak if you happen to have size eight feet. It is not that unusual. Lots of women have them.
So why is it we are treated as some sort of second class citizens by the majority of shoes shops?
My feet reached their full and splendid length by the time I reached about 14 which means I have spent more than 15 years being sniffed at by shop assistants horrified that my feet could have reached such gargantuan proportions.
It is not my fault they are that big and don't you dare look down on me for it.
I have lost count of the number of times I have asked for a size eight shoe in a shop to be greeted with the sort of look you would expect had I announced I liked to bathe in manure. And don't get me started on the grisly episode which followed after one assistant suggested I might like to check out the men's trainers for my size.

I have exactly the same problem... Made worse recently by a certain High Street shoe retailer who has deemed that my usual size 42 is now in fact a UK size 9?! Surely that's not right??
I remember praying my feet wouldn't keep growing as a teenager I seemed to go from a 6 to an 8 in a matter of months. I'm not a shoeaholic but I do find sometimes you can get lucky in the sales when all that's left are size 3s and 8s.
