Something fishy afoot

Check out this picture.
Believe it or not this woman is not trying to kill the little fishes she is actually having a pedicure.

Forget the need for a chiropodist or sharp scalpels and razors, simply stick your foot in the tank and let the garra rufa fish - better known as Dr Fish - gnaw off at the hard skin.
Fish pedicures have been hugely popular in Asia and are now creating something of a splash in America where one spa reports over 5,000 clients popping their feet in the tank.
As they fish have no teeth it is said to merely tickle rather than hurt. Not convinced? Check out this video and see how you feel then.
Given my love of killer heels I think it would take something more akin to a great white to gnaw off all the hard skin on my feet.

By coincidence I read yesterday about staff at Loch Lomond sea life centre having their cuticles tidied up by tropical shrimps. This is obviously the way forward for pedicures and manicures.
