Share a few yarns

liverbird.jpgSINCE SJP, Julia Roberts and Uma Thurman were all ousted as keen knitters a couple of years ago, the clackety clack of speeding needles have been associated more with celebrity than the elderly.

And now there's an even better excuse than ever to know your weft from your warp.

Origins.jpgA group of women from the fabulously named knitting shop Purlesque, at the Bluecoat, is holding sessions where you can enjoy a gossip while you fathom out how you managed to drop so many stitches.

They take place every week at the Belvedere Pub from 6pm on Tuesdays and at the Bluecoat from 2-4pm on Sundays. The group has already made the knitted Liver bird above.

And if you can't decide what to make then why not create a mini scarf for Origins. The beauty brand will be winding them around the necks of its Ginger Essence bottles and £1 from every sale will be donated to the homeless charity Shelter. More details here.
