Okay, not everyone in the GBS office is sure about that bit of casting. However we are able to get past that because Robert Downey Jr is ...um well fit and getting fitter as he gets older.
Also, we are rather excited because Guy Richie, who is directing the movie, has intimated that some of it may be filmed right here in Liverpool - fantastic we could actually get so see the Robster sinking a pint (or more likely an Evian) in the London Carriage Works (not that we are planning to stalk him or anything).
Where it gets odd though is when it comes to the part of Sherlock's crime-solving buddy one Doctor Watson. Taking on this role will be a certain Jude Law.
Excuse me, we are struggling to buy that one.

And still there is more Hollyweirdness to come as it transpires that Russell Crowe - who was originally mooted to play the Doc - won't be because he has been cast as Robin Hood in a new movie about Sherwood Forest's finest AND he will also play the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Like we said Hollywood has gone mad....we're just hoping we don't have to see Russell in a pair of tights!
