Seeds of an idea from Powerplant
THE ubiquitous floral dress - every spring, before the daffodils have even poked their heads above the frosty ground, they appear in the shops.
But even though you can't escape them I didn't expect to see a whole wardrobe of them hanging in the trees of Calderstones Park.
They were part of Powerplant, a sound and light art installation commissioned by Liverpool Culture Company, which took place at night time over the weekend.
As well as the dresses - which floated like eery spectres - there were bursts of fire, psychedelic windmills and haunting whistles. It would have made a great location for a fashion shoot but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to use it.
I have been thinking for a while that it would be a good idea to shoot a model against a white background and replace it with illustrations. It would be a bit elaborate but apt for Capital of Culture. Powerplant has inspired me to think about it some more.
