Soapstar superstars - fashion hits and misses

BLESS those soap lovelies. They spend their on-screen lives dressed like bag ladies so you can hardly blame them for getting a bit overexcited when an awards ceremony comes along can you?
So this week's national soap awards had the girls squeezing themselves into some of the brightest, tightest creations you could imagine.
Here the Girls Behaving Stylishly give our verdict on three of the big winners:

Kara Tointon aka EastEnders' Dawn

Emma Pinch: Love the colour but far too Marbella Belle. Ditto the mahogony tan. Like something Marlene would wear from Only Fools and Horses. Supremely foxy hair do though.

Laura Davis: Kara looks like a doll, not a person and I'm really not sure about the dress. But that's irrelevant really because it she could be wearing the most beautiful red carpet frock ever seen and we still wouldn't notice anything but the bowl head.

Alpa Bisarya: No. No. No. The dress looks like its made from foil and if she was going to wear a wig she should've go one that fitted her head a bit better.

Emam Johnson: Bad dress but even worse wig and she has such fabulous hair.

Lacey Turner aka Stacey from EastEnders
EP: Pretty and girlish and gosh, quite classy. The skirt dwarfs her newly slender frame a little, but the pick of the bunch.

LD: Lacey looks gorgeous here - quite often at these events she seems to be dragged down by a dress that's too old for her, but this one is really cute and her legs look great.

AP: I think this look is a bit safe and boring. She hasn't tried to do anything different.

EJ: She has really started to smarten up lately. Looks quite classy here. She also has fabulous hair.

Jennifer Metcalfe aka Hollyoaks' Mercedes McQueen

EP: No, no, no. Never has the 'less is more' rule proved so misleading. Most Liverpool lasses wouldn't wear it to the local Yates's, especially with the clunky belt. Saying that, blokes would still be drooling if she wore a Hoover bag.

LD: This is the worst of the lot. Jennifer's outfit and excess tan make her look cheap and for God's sake girl - eat something!

AP: I don't like this at all. I think the dress looks really cheap. I do like her hair though.

EJ: Good for Jennifer for championing the high street - the dress was apparently less than £60 and from Littlewoods - but it is not awards ceremony material. She too has amazing hair - think I am developing a theme here....
