What Katy did
LAST year Katy Perry was watching the MTV EMAs in her bedroom - this year she was its most enduring image.
With enough costume changes to fill several dressing rooms at the Echo Arena Liverpool, she looked brilliant and made a great presenter.
Here are our views on her outfits. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Banana
Alpa: A really pretty dress in candy colours. A nice change to some of the other wacky outfits she wore during the show.
Emma P: Old fashioned screen goddess glam. Classy grown up gown, maybe a touch old for her, but gorgeous none the less. I love the shell pink/flesh colour. Beginning to hate this girl.
Emma J: Apart from her red carpet dress this is probably the most wearable gown we saw from Katy. Sexy and elegant.
Laura: I hate bananas more than I hate not getting tickets for the EMAs so was too distracted to notice the dress.
American football
Alpa: For a very American-themed night, this novelty outfit kicked things off nicely.
Emma P: Yes I know it's a pastiche but neither funny or pretty. Next.
Emma J: Perfect outfit for the opening number. How many women could pull off American footballer shoulder pads.
Laura: Gave me flashbacks to a brief teenage phase of liking Gridiron. Love her make-up though.
Cherries
Alpa: I thought this outfit was stunning. It showed off her porcelain skin and great legs well.
Emma P: Who'd have thought KP had such a cracking pair of pins?! And by god, you'd need them with this bottom-skimmer. Gorgeous colours though and looks like something you could find in an upmarket high street chain.
Emma J: So cute. I want this outfit - I would wear it to go clubbing in. What do you mean I wouldn't? Extra points for the sparkly knickers.
Laura: She looks amazing. Cheeky but not too tarty.

Carousel
Alpa: Love. Love. Loved it. It really brought out the fun side of the night.
Emma P: I really love this one too. I've never considered the merits of incorporating a fairground ride into a dress before, but this is genuinely quirky but still cute and sexy.
Emma J: Amazing, amazing dress. Not the most practical number but absolutely gorgeous. Manish Arora is a genius.
Laura: I want this. But my posture would be terrible because I'd keep bending down to twirl the skirt.
Barack
Alpa: Very topical but by the time she changed into it, Obama had been name-checked so often, I thought it lost some of its impact.
Emma P: Love it! Barack Obama is hip, so is the dress. Always encouraging to see young people grapple with politics.
Emma J: Very patriotic of Katy and quite a masterpiece. I wouldn't want to be the one sewing on the sequins though!
Laura: Liked the dress, soon tired of the patriotism.

Playsuit
Alpa: This was probably the only one I was a little unsure of, although my friend's fiancee loved it.
Emma P: There are truly not many people who could pull off a satin playsuit without looking more like Matt Lucas than Betty Grable, but she looks fab.
Emma J: My least favourite outfit from Katy. Bit too Ziegfield Follies for my liking.
Laura: Didn't really like this one - too much like a three-year-old's pyjamas - but there was no look Katy couldn't pull off last night.
Half and half
Alpa: Crazy but perfect for the awards.
Emma P: Disastrous. So many celebs have tried humorous takes on the dinner suit and not one came off. Memories of the backward suit frockstrocity Celine Dion wore to the Oscars are too fresh in our minds for this thank you. That said, the dress half looks quite nice in an Carrie Bradshaw way.
Emma J: Well obviously it went with the new song "Hot or cold" but I don't expect to see a version in Topshop any time soon. Which is a good thing.
Laura: Very pantomime but why not.
