The good, the bad and the ugly

THERE have been many fashion highs and lows for me this year including Katy Perry's MTV wardrobe, an ongoing obsession with Abbey Clancy's hair which is sure to continue into 2009 and Cheryl Cole's X-Factor looks. But my favourite must be the First Lady-to-be Michelle Obama.

By dressing in Gap and American department store J Crew and with effortless style she's shown that you don't have to fork out thousands to look good and let's face it, in these credit crunch times, that can only be good news.

And with designers the world over clamouring to dress her for the inaugration ball at the end of January all eyes will be on what she will be wearing.

With as many lows as there have been highs this year it's been hard to pick a favourite - Beyonce's audition to be the next Michelin Man, Victoria Beckham's shoes without heels and Alex Curran attempt to work the monochrome look at the MTV awards proved unsuccessful. However, as they say, there can only be one winner and mine is... Amy Winehouse.

Looking like she was constantly in need of a good wash, her look was copied by women up and down the country. Including me. (Although in my defence, it was for a fancy dress party). View image
