The mane attraction
HAVE you ever agreed to do something that pandered to your ego and then a few minutes later, regretted saying yes?
This is what happened to me a few weeks ago when my hairdresser Mark asked me if I'd model for his salon's new website.
While I often think my thick hair is the bane of my life - particularly when it takes ages to dry - other people, including Mark love it.
"I'm thinking very 60s, very Barbarella. As if you've been to bed but not had much sleep!" he said with a cheeky laugh.
'Ok then,' I agreed. 'As long as you don't cut it or dye it.' As I put the phone down, I did wonder why I'd said yes when I hate having my photo taken.
Turning up at the salon with around 30 other women, he quickly got to work putting huge rollers in my hair and leaving me under the dryer for the best part of an hour. With little peripheral vision I could see the photographer setting up his lights and equipment behind me as the feeling of dread built up inside.
Then as Mark took out the curlers, I was ready for my close-up...
