February 2009 Archives

Bored of the big hair that is everywhere at the moment? The Posh crop not daring enough?
Then we think we have got just the hairstyle you have been looking for.

Girls very much allowed

THERE can't be many pop poppets who would get away with crashing a proper rock and roll do like the NME Awards, so kudos to Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding and bandmate local lass Nicola Roberts pictured here at last night's bash.
Not only do the pair look right at home at music's messiest award show in their rock chick get ups but you just know the pair probably went hell for leather at the parties afterwards.
And how nice to see Nicola with a much more natural-looking hair and make-up?

IT is the capital of fashion and the most sytylish city in the world and I am supposed to be a Girl Behaving Stylishly, so what I am about to say may come as something of a surprise.
But I have never been to Paris.

Eye Eye Oscar

By Emma Pinch on Feb 24, 09 04:18 PM

brooke.jpgTHICK eyebrows are a sign of pristine youth apparently, and caterpillar-style Brooke Shields brows are the ones everyone wants.
So much so that word from the Oscars red carpet is that the absolute hottest thing there this year was false eyebrows.
No, not the Guess Who-style disguise that comes with a fake moustache and Ronnie Barker glasses.

And Award Goes To..

Thumbnail image for oscarsmeryl.jpgEP: THE dove grey is a clever choice. Not as severe as black. Meryl knows how to dress herself well. I like the turned over neck which adds interest.
AB: Ms Streep is Hollywood royalty and can do no wrong. Gorgeous colour against her skin tone

Heidi looks fabulous. Far too much classic but boringly safe Hollywood on show this year, everyone looks like an extra from Gone With The Wind. Not nearly enough Bjork/Cher/Celine-style frocktastic fun. Heidi carries off daring fuscia radiantly.

AB: Kate's YSL dress in a beautiful colour but would prefer it without the one-shouldered sash. Hair looks a bit too old for her though
EP: I like her hair, reminiscent of the Catherine Deneuve photoshoot she did. But I didn't care for the dress over much, each seems very much along the same cantilevered asymmetric lines. She looks very pretty though.

AB: Oh Pen, where did it go wrong? She should've stuck to her usual palette of black and bold colours for her big night. White makes her look very washed out.
EP: More Miss Haversham fashions from Ms Cruz, which we should just leave to Nicole Kidman, as ghost bride is a look she is channeling on every red carpet event these days. Prefer her in something more exotic and Spanish; with her colouring she can take her pick of colours. oscarstilda.jpg
AB: Tilda never plays with the rules but looks better in this Lanvin dress than she did last year. Nice to see her with a bit of make up on too.
EP: She has such a sense of her own style it's difficult to criticise. It's not my cup of tea but nice to see a splash of individuality.

HAVE you ever looked at the creations on the catwalks and though 'I could do that'.

Well, if you're one of those people who would love to design their own clothes but can barely sew on a button, help is at hand.

Geek chic hits the runway

First Ugly betty became a style icon, then Alexa Chung started wandering around in her National Health style specs.
Now as if proof were needed that Geek Chic is where it is at, along comes this picture from New York Fashion Week.
The look forms part of Tracy Reese's fall collection and we have to say nerds have never looked better.
