Why Victoria Beckham should shop at Dorothy Perkins

I WAS reading a copy of Reveal recently (yes, yes, alright - I suppose reading a celeb gossip mag goes ever so slightly against the Geek Chic image but every girl has her vices...) and found an article about Victoria Beckham and her simply outrageous collection of very, very expensive handbags.
She has been spotted out and about with handbags by designers such as Chanel, Valentino, Balenciaga and, clearly her favourite, Hermes Birkin. These bags range in price from a 'cheap and cheerful' ã700 to a credit crunch-tastic ã9,000 for an ostrich Calle by Spanish designer Loewe (I'm sorry, who and a what??).
But the one that really takes the biscuit is a diamond encrusted Hermes Birkin 'Himalayan' (yeah, I'm sure you're going to see a Sherpa with one of these...) that David bought for her. This handbag, ladies, cost ã80,000! For god's sake woman, it's a handbag! How on earth could anyone, even Posh, who is indeed a stylish lady, justify spending the price of a small terraced house on A BAG?!
I'm sorry, I know I come across as a dreadful kill joy. If I had her money I'd want to spend it on nice, extravagant things. Maybe a very fast, very sexy car. Possibly an island. Almost definitely a boob lift if the current gravitational journey that my breasts are taking continues. But a bag? I'd want to be able to drive it, sleep on it and use it to hoist things up for that money.
So come on Vic, get a grip, nip down to Dorothy Perkins and grab yourself an electric blue clutch bag. I did and I've had loads of compliments... and not a diamond in sight.

The worst worldwide economic crisis will be the final nail in Victoria Beckhams minimalistic, talent fee fame coffin. Why? Well relentless years of disgustingly obscene, vulgar wealth displays of in your face "Look at me I'm richer than you" exhibitionism are hardly going to popular in these dire times are they? God! Come to think of it that's all her fame has been based on of late!
