The return of the Geek Chic chicks
YOU may remember a little while ago we had the pleasure of Gemma Aldcroft, the woman behind Club Geek Chic, guest blogging for us.
Gemma held the first of her clever Club Geek Chic events, a bijou affair in The Italian Club on Bold Street entitled 'Words and Music' offering city socialites a sophisticated and intelligent nightlife, two years ago.
Since then Club Geek Chic has grown and developed with events such as 'Night of The Cherry Blossoms' at Hope Street Hotel's Residents' Lounge, 'Geek Chic Does Bond' at FACT and a New Year's Eve party that took over the whole of the Philharmonic Pub.
After a six month break which allowed Gemma to work on finding fabulous venues and developing themes Club Geek Chic returns this weekend and Gemma now has another geek on board in the shape of Karen Podesta.
That;s them looking foxy in the picture above!!
Despite the many and varied night life options in the city the girls felt there was still a gap in the market so since meeting in June have been developing and promoting Club Geek Chic to this end.
Their first event is entitled TEAdance and will be held on the 15th August in The Racquet Club on Chapel Street in Liverpool's business district.
In keeping with the Geek Chic ethos the evening will be a celebration of the traditional 30s and 40s entertainment with a distinctly modern twist with music from quirky seven piece The Maladies of Bellafontaine, dance classes, full afternoon tea, tea cocktails and a DJ for those wishing to shake their tail feather in a less traditional manner!
"We're really hoping to offer a proper alternative for a Friday or Saturday night out" says Gemma. "At the moment the more cerebral events take place mid week and finish around 10pm. Just because people like to discuss books or philosophy doesn't mean they don't want to drink and dance til the wee small hours!"
To help celebrate Geek Chic's return Gemma and Karen have signed up to another week of guest blogging for us.
Today we present Gemma's first misisive. Do let us know your thoughts!
