What a spectacle...
BY GUEST BLOGGER KAREN PODESTA OF GEEK CHIC
Our impeccably stylish friends and TeaDance sponsors Silverberg Opticians had us round for a cuppa at their Whitechapel store earlier this week so we could try on our favourite frames. With over 2500 designer pairs in store I was in spec-heaven and stayed for hours, having fashion palpitations as I pulled pair after pair from the racks. I have to share some of them with you...
The exclusive Bulgari, Chanel and Tiffany & Co. ranges made me feel like a million dollars! I especially loved the Chanel specs with the denim arms (top right) and the embellishments on the Tiffany and Bulgari sunglasses are to-die-for! These brands can only be bought in-store.
We couldn't resist embracing our inner geek and channeling some Tea Dance glamour...Gemma was particularly taken with the Oliver Peoples (left middle) and I with the LA Eyeworks. They'll go so well with some fox-trotting and tea cocktails on Saturday night!
As I left the store dreaming of owning a vintage cabinet full of gorgeous specs, it got me thinking about my own four-eyed faves:
David Tennant
My friends and family will insist that I'm just looking for an excuse to post a picture of the fabulous Mr. T, but he himself described the Doctor's look as "Geek Chic" so it goes without saying that I had to include him. All purely professional journalism, I swear. Swoon.
Zooey Deschanel
How cute is style-icon Zooey in these pics from an Oliver Peoples ad earlier this year? She also inspired their retro 'Zooey' shade. Watch the full ad here: http://bit.ly/13WDgp and you'll fall in love with every pair she wears.
Cary Grant
Ross Geller isn't the only sexy on-screen palaeontologist! In 30s screwball comedy Bringing Up Baby, Cary perfects the science-geek look as Dr. David Huxley.
Marilyn Monroe
In one of my all-time favourites How To Marry a Millionaire, Marilyn's character Pola is blind as a bat but refuses to wear her gorgeous diamond-studded, horn-rimmed frames (want!) because "Men aren't attentive to girls who wear glasses." Ladies, how wrong she was!

I received my first credit loans when I was a teenager and this aided me a lot. But, I need the consolidation loans again.
