Did style icon Jane Birkin start the pyjama-wearing trend?
WITH all the fuss lately over Liverpool women going shopping in their pyjamas, here at Style Towers we were most intrigued to hear how one of the world's most famous style icons used to regularly go out in her nightwear.
Jane Birkin, she of the Serge Gainsbourg hit Je t'aime and the woman who the world's most famous bag is named after, makes the revelation in an interview with Elle magazine.
Says Jane: "You may not know this but I used to shock people by crossing the road in paris in my pyjamas. I also used to carry a wicker basket, and Serge used to tell me he didn't care.
"People would screech their cars to a halt when they saw me but to me U was just being my very English self."

Jane also explains the origins of THAT bag: "I was flying to London from Paris and found myself sitting next to Jean-Louis Dumas, the CEO of Hermes. My Hermes organiser was too full so everything fell out next to him.
"He told me I should put items in the pockets and I told him, 'If Hermes put pockets in, I would. He said: I am Mr Hermes and I'll put pockets in for you.'
"A month later he sent over a new design and asked if he could call it the Birkin bag."
