Sarah Burton knocks it out of the park for McQueen in Paris
As a die-hard McQueen fan I was a little concerned for the line after Kate Middleton's wedding dress. While I realise there were centuries of royal protocol fashioned into its seams, and it was undoubtedly a beautiful gown, I felt it was a bit safe.
After all McQueen was known for some of the most outlandish gowns ever created (remember the razor clam dress?, spray paint?). I feared that Sarah Burton, while creating beautiful pieces might smooth that rough and crazy edge off the brand.
Judging from this week's Paris Fashion Week show though my worries were utterly misplaced. Sarah Burton showed the fashion world why she is precisely the woman to carry on the label.
The show may not have had the shock tactics of some of McQueen's own extravaganzas but it was utterly beautiful.
The clothes were a little bit fetishistic, artistic and just a teensy bit bonkers. It was in short everything we have come to expect from the fashion house that is Alexander McQueen.
