ldtedbaker1.jpgIF YOU too have decided to ignore the insane AW08 trend of carrying your belongings in a bum bag wrapped around your left knee then you are left with two choices.

When it comes to handbags this season the options are simple - they're either big and slouchy or small and neat.

Snowjoggers...snow thanks

SO WHAT do you make of these little babies?
They are called Snowjoggers and apparently they are "the cooler alternative to Uggs," this winter.
Hmmm, here at GBS we are not so sure about that one.

IF YOU haven't checked out the events at Chester Fashion Fortnight yet then you still have time.

This week's highlights are as follows...

Going up and dropping down

By Emma Johnson on Sep 14, 08 10:30 AM

US Spears 1_028.jpgWant to know what we are getting into and out of this week?
Here goes:

hot

l BRITNEY SPEARS, well she's definitely hotter than this time last year. And she has all her hair.

l THE new Hovis advert. One of the longest adverts in history (122 seconds) and filmed in Liverpool it screend last night.

In the bag...

By Emma Johnson on Sep 13, 08 10:00 AM

IF YOU are forever fumbling around in the bottom of your bag for keys/lipstick/hairbrush/ringing mobile phone then the findings of a recent survey will come as no surprise.
Apparently the average woman spends 76 days of her life rummaging in her handbag for belongings. How depressing.

MODELS, designers and retailers will hit the catwalk as Chester Fashion Fortnight is launched today.

More than 50 Chester retailers will be offering special fashion offers across the city and we'll be keeping you up to date on the main events right here.

IF THE credit crunch is making you miserable and your wardrobe is looking weary, I have two words to say to you Sample Sale.
Yes just when we were beginnning to think sample sales were an urban myth we have received word of a genuine one.

Eerie place for a fashion shoot

By Laura Davis on Sep 9, 08 12:00 PM

I'VE styled fashion shoots in some funny locations but never before in a place that was once used to store dead bodies.

Yet that is where last week's Vivienne Westwood A/W08 shoot took place - in a lecture hall that Liverpool University used for carrying out autopsies to teach students of anatomy. You can see a video of behind the scenes above.

Dressed to impress...or not

By Emma Johnson on Sep 5, 08 05:06 PM

THE GQ Awards may have been for men but the female guests turned the event into quite the catwalk. As promised here are the Girls Behaving Stylishly's verdicts on our pick of the pics.

LIVERPOOL'S very own Abigail Clancy - or "Scouse icon" as ITV has described her in its press release - will be presenting a fashion TV show this autumn.

Along with George Lamb (Big Brother's Little Brother) and model Michelle de Swarte, she will be interviewing celebrities about their style secrets and giving advice on how to achieve the latest designer look at high street prices, assuming she can recall life before wagdom.

SHOWBIZ GQ 35_348.jpg
IT'S probably not a match Don King ever imagined staging but it sounds like Elton John vs Lily Allen at the GQ awards was quite the title fight.
By all accounts a rather inebriated Lily, hardly known for beong shy and retiring, launched a verbal asault on England's other Queen as the pair compered the ceremony.

AW08 preview at Metquarter

By Laura Davis on Sep 1, 08 08:00 AM

Metquarter4.jpg

WENT TO Metquarter's media preview this week to check out what they've got in store for autumn/winter.

They hold one of these events every season so we can pick up lookbooks and get ideas for fashion shoots.

vero1.jpg
LIVERPOOL'S newest fashion store opened this morning in the former Zara store on the corner of Church Street and Paradise Street.

We went to Vero Moda's official opening party last night where the store manager described it as a cross between H&M and Mango, and said that they get new ranges in every week.

Cream of the crop

People who know me may find it hard to believe but yes that is me in that picture in the wellies. After years of protesting that I don't do fields I just had one of the best weekends of my life at Creamfields' 10th birthday bash.

Check out Madonna in this picture, all bursting with blonde ambition. Except look a little closer and you will see that it's not the Queen of Pop at all.
In fact it is esteemed Daily Post features editor and girl behaving stylishly Emma Johnson Voguing for the cameras.

Forget complaining about what a rubbish summer we have had and worrying whether the sun is going to shine because apparently it is now Christmas.
Or at least it is at Betty's.

clairehamilton.jpgBE HONEST - how many bags of old clothes could you fill if you drapped all the stuff you haven't worn for at least 12 months out of the back of the wardrobe?

The Girls Behaving Stylishly have a solution - a clothes swap party.

Girls (and a few boys) on film

By Laura Davis on Aug 9, 08 08:00 AM

HAVING ticked off many of the superlambananas the Girls Behaving Stylishly are planning to embark on a tour of a different kind - we're going to track down every one of Mark McNulty's images.

Mcnulty-1.jpg

A selection of the cult fashion and music photographer's pictures, including this one taken in Cream, Ibiza, are currently on display in shops and venues across Liverpool city centre.

Get the look - intense eyes

By Laura Davis on Aug 8, 08 09:57 AM

royalcourtfashion2.jpgTHE make-up artist on the shoot we featured in this week's Style City has offered to share her secrets.

For this wonderfully intense look, Lottie Davies from MAC, used these products...

SURE, we're all frantically putting our empty wine bottles in a separate bin to our well-read copies of Vogue and carrying Cath Kidston bags-for-life to the supermarket, but what about our clothes?
A fashion show at Metquarter tonight looks at creative ways to reuse the items discarded at the back of our wardrobes.

Bag yourself some Cricket kit

By Laura Davis on Jul 31, 08 08:00 AM

I WAS in Cricket the other day, borrowing clothes for a fashion shoot, when I spotted just how many self-branded items they now have on sale.

As well the tote bags that came out at the beginning of the year, you can now buy compacts, keyrings and mobile phone charms in the recognisable pink and zebra print.

Surf 's up at the Royal Court

By Laura Davis on Jul 29, 08 08:00 AM

eightmileshigh-1.jpgTHE Royal Court has been transformed into a outdoor festival (inside) for its latest production, Eight Miles High.

I went to the launch night on Tuesday to write a review and thought it would be great to use the set as the backdrop for a fashion shoot.

If the shoe does not fit...

By Emma Johnson on Jul 28, 08 09:00 AM

Are you sitting comfortably because I am about to have rant.
You are not a freak if you happen to have size eight feet. It is not that unusual. Lots of women have them.
So why is it we are treated as some sort of second class citizens by the majority of shoes shops?

Alex.jpgIF HAIRSPRAY sales plummeted faster than an overweight lemming earlier this week then we have the reason why.

Alex Curran, whose trademark quiff is surely held up by six cans per day, decided to go for a sleek look when accompanying hubby Stevie G to collect his honorary degree at JMU this week.

Sandwich Stress

By Emma on Jul 25, 08 08:00 AM

sandwich.jpgDoes anyone else get irrationally upset/feel a ball of cold, hard, gnawing rage growing under their ribcage/ when their sandwich isn't made to their finickety specifications?
Picture this. Lovely, unexpectedly sunny day outside the lead bunker and me and a pal trooped off to a quite swanky sandwich shop with row upon row of exciting ingredients you'd never have to hand at home. Dribbling wtih anticipation I went for chicken tikka on white with the minty yoghurty stuff spread on the bread instead of butter and cucumber and tomato. It was all going relatively well until one side was buttered then the yoghurty stuff was SMEARED ON THE CHICKEN.

westwood.jpgYES, I know it's still summer and technically most people haven't been on holiday yet but in the fabulous world of fashion everything's topsy turvey.

Believe it or not, we're already receiving press releases for Christmas gifts and festive food, but at least it means we get a sneak preview of the autumn/winter labels... and we get to share it with you.
