The Saw Lady, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra patrons and Art By The Ferry
LAST week, I had the honour of meeting some of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's patrons for a feature in today's Daily Post. With funding cuts to the arts the Phil is having to rely more and more on the financial support of ordinary people. It was interesting to discover that those ordinary people also rely on the Phil. I noticed they used the word "we" a lot when describing the orchestra, which sums up how close to the organisation they feel.
Also, for those who can't wait for the new season to start, here's a video of violinist Midori live at Carnegie Hall. She will be playing with the Phil on September 13 before heading out on tour with them.

Summer is always an odd time in this job - there aren't as many shows yet I still have the same number of pages to fill. One benefit though is that I get to focus on subjects that aren't directly linked to events.
One of these was an Alternative A-Z of Liverpool Culture, which ran over two weeks and has inspired a local illustrator to get in touch with me about working on a feature together - more of that at a later date.
I was also contacted on Twitter by Natalia, the Saw Lady, who runs a musical saw festival in New York, and had read about Jack Robinson in the A-Z. She writes a blog if you're interested.

If you're looking for something to do weekend check out Art by the Ferry at Woodside Ferry Terminal, Birkenhead, where there'll be arts, crafts and live music. It's being run by Open Culture.

Incidentally, while I was looking for the above link I accidentally found myself on a whole other Open Culture website, which offers free courses and educational material. Might be worth having a look.
Cheerio for now
