Paul Du Noyer to give album covers lecture at The Bluecoat with music by Candie Payne and The Zutons' Paul Molloy
LIVERPOOL-born music journalist Paul Du Noyer will give a specially created lecture about vinyl albums covers at The Bluecoat on Thursday, September 20.
Author of the definitive history of Liverpool music Wondrous Place and founding editor of Mojo Magazine, he will talk in depth about 50 iconic and groundbreaking album covers from the last 50 years. The hour-long lecture and Q&A will also be punctuated by live performances of songs from a selection of the albums.
The event's being put on by Little Atom Productions, the company behind the In Conversation Series at St George's Hall, which sees famous Liverpudlians interviewed while their favourite songs are played live for them on stage.
De Noyer, who was the first In Conversation guest, says: "This lecture was originally created for the V&A in London but the true capital of popular music is of course my home town of Liverpool.
"Delivering the lecture here I can place even more emphasis on Liverpool albums and the addition of live music will bring an extra dimension to the audience's enjoyment of the great popular art form that these designs came to represent."
Original for Liverpool, is the addition of live music , performed by Paul Molloy (The Zutons) and Candie Payne A- known together as The Big House, both of whom are mentioned in Wondrous Place.
