Structure for Anthony McCall's Column art work sails down the Mersey

A VERY strange structure was being towed down the River Mersey from Garston Dock to East Float, Wirral, yesterday.

It's the funnel that will create Anthony McCall's Column art work - a 1.2 mile-high vertical, spinning column of cloud that forms part of the Cultural Olympiad.

This means team will be able to begin visible testing and those of us living in Merseyside will get to see the work start to take shape from the end of this month.
