Lord Foulkes-Up strikes again
Remember Lord Foulkes, the lord who appears determined to make him self look as dim as possible?
He's the one who tried to defend Michael Martin when he was speaker of the house, suggesting that it was all the media's fault?
He's back.
Here's his question in the House of Lords from yesterday:
My Lords, I add my tribute to the fallen and to Henry Allingham. I am deeply grateful to my noble friend for her reply. Would she agree that in this media-dominated age, it is even more important than ever to maintain a united front in dealing with ruthless and cunning enemies such as the Taliban and al-Qaeda? Was she therefore surprised at the public comments of Sir Richard Dannatt and Sir Jock Stirrup, which threaten to undermine our effort in Afghanistan and give succour to the enemy? Could my noble friend consider gently reminding those gentlemen of the importance of loyalty, particularly when we are engaged in a very difficult war where victory is essential for the future safety of this country?
In other words, here's a man, already proven to be detached from reality, who, in the face of 18 soldier deaths this month, decides to accuse senior military brass of disloyalty when they have the cheek to ask for more equipment.
The only gentleman who appears to need reminding about loyalty is Lord Foulkes-Up. Rather than sitting in his comfy chair in the House of Lords, would his time not be better spent arguing for more equipment for the army from a government which could also be accused of disloyalty by not giving our army what it needs.
If ever there was proof of what happens to the mind when you spend too much time inside the bubble, then Lord Foulkes-Up is it.
