TRICIA WOOD has written a piece for the Pool of Life blog, describing the Boy Scouts Jamboree at Arrowe Park, Wirral. The 90th anniversary of the event is this summer...

WHAT a thought! Fifty thousand boy scouts from around 40 countries, all descending simultaneously on Arrowe Park. It was the largest ever gathering of international youth to date.

LIVERPOOL photographer E Chambre Hardman has so many admirers but few have had the opportunity to meet him.
Bill Ellis, 79, the oldest volunteer room guide at Mr Hardman's Photographic Studio, at 59 Rodney Street, knew its famous resident when he was a fellow member of the Liverpool Amateur Photographic Association. Some of his own photographs are below.

THE description of this blog, on the right hand side, rather loftily declares that "the story of Liverpool is as much about its people as its buildings or historic events". But this is something that is never more true when it comes to characters like jazz musician George Melly.
He is the focus of a new exhibition opening at The Walker later this month - featured in a series of paintings by Maggi Hambling. Daily Post feature writer David Charters has written an illuminating and touching interview with her, which you can read by clicking here.

A VERY last minute notice: Steve Binns, Liverpool's community historian, is hosting a History Club at St George's Hall from 11am-1pm today.
If you have any questions about the city's heritage and haven't been able to find the answer he will try and help. He's a mine of information and always has a colourful way of relating past events so I would definitely recommend this.
The Minton floor, made up of more than 30,000 tiles is currently uncovered too (until Feb 15) and costs £1 to view.
It takes place in the Learning and Education Room, on the third floor of the Heritage Centre. If you can't make it then watch this space for details of future History Club events.
