LIVERPOOL has more listed buildings than any other British city outside London, but that's a fact that's sometimes hard to visualise.

I've created a Google map of160-plus listed buildings in the city centre and seeing them marked like this shows how concentrated they are. So far I've only flagged them up, but I will add images and more details about each one in due course. This is a work in progress - there are still more buildings to add!

WHICH Merseyside figures do you think should be featured in an iconic art work that will stand in the new Museum of Liverpool?

I'm currently carrying out a survey to select whose photographs will be included in the Liverpool Map sculpture - the results will be passed to the artists who are creating it out of numerous layers of very thin glass.

stgeorgeshall.jpgTHERE are just a couple of weeks left to take part in the Settlement exhibition in St George's Hall. As well as asking how you imagine the Liverpool of the future, it invites you to add your memories of places in the city's past to a huge map.

Organised by the Pool Project, it's been curated to coincide with Liverpool's Year of the Environment. Two "picnic workshops" are also being held, on Saturday March 7 and Sunday March 15.

The exhibition, in the third floor Community Gallery at St George's Hall, is open from 10am-5pm every day until March 15.

LOCAL historian Mike Royden is being interviewed by Dean Sullivan on City Talk 105.9FM this afternoon at 1.45pm about a new set of Liverpool maps.

Printed by Cassini, the set is made up of four 1:50,000 maps from four different periods giving a series of bird's-eye views of the city and its surrounding countryside. A detailed 1:10,000 map lets you explore the mid-19th century city street by street.

IT'S 10 years since English Heritage widened its Blue Plaques scheme to cities outside London, putting up 15 in Merseyside.

To mark the anniversary I've created a Google Map of their locations which you can see below. Click on the drawing pins for more details about each one, or click here for a bigger version that you can print off and use for directions.
