Last week George Osborne unveiled what are rapidly becoming known as the biggest spending cuts since the Second World War. This is going to have a big impact on the retail market as consumers will have even less money to spend, but Osborne said that the Government is hoping they restore confidence in the long term.
Liverpool is an attractive tourist and shopping destination but like many other towns and cities, it has suffered in the downturn. Despite news of the spending cuts, we are currently seeing a retail revival in Liverpool. Local jeweller Wong's has relocated from its existing Rainford Square shop to a prime retail position in the popular shopping area of Whitechapel in the city centre, along with national outdoor retailer Blacks Leisure who has taken five floors in the same building.
